Crystal Palace’s fight for Championship survival will go down to the final game of the season after being held to a 1-1 draw by West Bromwich Albion.

The Eagles now travel to Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday and know that they must get at least a point to stay up.

A Steven Reid own goal had given the home side the lead on 17 minutes as he played a Simon Butterfield cross into his own net.

But the lead lasted just four minutes when Gabriel Tamas headed home to draw the visitors level.

The game wasn’t without its controversy either with Palace reduced to ten men on 83 minutes.

Neil Danns was sent off for headbutt and now misses the all important trip to Hillsborough on Sunday.

West Brom were lucky not to be down to ten men themselves on 13 minutes when Simon Cox handled the ball into the goal.

It was a valiant effort from Palace and a similar performance in the Steel City should secure their Championship status.
