Darren Ambrose has spoken of his delight at picking up his annual ‘Goal of the Season’ Award, and said he now can’t wait to get going again.

Speaking to Crystal Palace FC he admitted it was a poor end to last season, and as is usually the case for him he hasn’t stopped thinking about football whilst on his summer break.

‘This is nothing out of the ordinary, I’m always like that, when you finish one season you just want to be back playing and it won’t be long now. From day one I’m thinking how to improve next season. We didn’t finish the season off well as a team and as a player you try and sit down and think about how to change that.’

As for the end of the season awards, and his third consecutive goal of the season award he added.

‘I was very proud, it was fantastic. I can’t explain how I felt at the time, magical.’

As for the news of Wilfried Zaha’s involvement in Team GB, Ambrose ended the interview by saying the whole club were hoping he would make the final 18.

‘It’s something he can remember and cherish for the rest of his career. We all hope he does it, it would be great to watch one of our players go and play in the Olympics.’
