Crystal Palace appealed to the FA over the straight red card received by Wilfried Zaha against Leicester and won.

Announcing the appeal, Dougie Freedman told the Croydon Advertiser.

‘The referee’s report indicates that Wilfried was sent off for spitting at the player, the video replay clearly shows he didn’t.’

Freddman added that the player was about 4 foot away from Zaha at the time and however distasteful it may be it’s common place thesedays, and the spit wasn’t aimed at anyone.

‘I know Wilf’s shooting could be better, but it’s not that bad!’

After supplying the FA with a DVD of the incident, they concurred and have rescinded the red card and the subsequent ban.
