Following our 1-0 loss to Portsmouth last night, Dougie Freedman was disappointed to see us concede in what was otherwise a decent performance.

Speaking to Crystal Palace FC Freedman said he was disappointed with the result, but he was pleased with our overall performance and he’s taking far more positives from the game than he is negatives.

‘Obviously disappointed with the result, but we were resilient, we showed the right sort of defensive qualities and I felt that in the second half we began to get a foothold in the game. Looking back it’s a difficult one to swallow but I can see some positives.’

That growing foothold was ruined by Nugent’s 65 minute strike, but overall Dougie feels we just fell a little bit short on the night.

‘Overall they had a lot of possession and more chances so I felt that it was a spirited performance in terms of putting our bodies on the line and giving everything we had.’

Another reason for some pleasure from the loss was the boss thought the team responded well in terms of how we approached the game and he definitely felt we are now going in the right direction after he’s previously talking about changing the mindset of the team when it came to away games.

‘Although it’s a defeat I think we are building a good team spirit and that we were close but not close enough.’

Not quite sqeeky bum time but but with Scunny & Boro having 3 games in hand the pressure is on. Derby are drowning & they could slip into the dreaded 3.

We need to pick up wins, can’t rely on others to help us out sadly. Should be enough games left but we can’t waste anymore chances.
