Much earlier today, the draw for the third round of the EFL Cup took place out in Beijing, China.

With a 4.15am BST time for the draw, it wasn’t screened live anywhere but details were carried online and on social media, with videos of the draw being released later in the day.

The last two draws have had issues with teams being drawn twice and confusion over home and away ties, but it appears it was third time lucky for the EFL.

Third round draw:

West Bromwich Albion v Manchester City
Everton v Sunderland
Leicester City v Liverpool
Manchester United v Burton Albion
Brentford v Norwich City
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Bristol Rovers
Burnley v Leeds
Arsenal v Doncaster Rovers
Bristol City v Stoke City
Reading v Swansea City
Aston Villa v Middlesbrough
Chelsea v Nottingham Forest
West Ham United v Bolton Wanderers
Crystal Palace v Huddersfield Town
Tottenham Hotspur v Barnsley/Derby County
Bournemouth v Brighton and Hove Albion

Ties will be played in the week commencing September 18 and the outstanding round two tie between Barnsley and Derby County is set for September 19.

This draw could easily have been unkinder so I guess this club should be reasonably happy to be drawn at home against opposition that are beatable. To get a home game is always a bonus, lets just hope the lads can take full advantage of that and progress.
