Freedman Not Getting Carried Away

Dougie Freedman is refusing to get carried away following our best start to a league campaign in six years…he expects rocky roads ahead.

Speaking to Newshopper Freedman said fans should still expect a rollercoaster of a season, even though he has been surprised the team have come together so well and so quickly.

‘To be honest it’s a surprise to me because I didn’t expect us to take shape as quickly as we have done. I thought it would be longer, but we find ourselves bubbling along nicely.’

Freedman points out that it’s a long, hard season and there are plenty of games to go yet, so whilst we can be proud and delighted of the start we have made, things can and will (to one degree or another) change before the season is out.

‘It’s a long way to go but the good thing is that the team’s improving. It’s hard work going into these victories, it’s not flukes, but there’s a long way to go and it’s going to be a roller coaster season.’

Dougie certainly won’t be drawn on promotional aims for the season though, preferring instead to keep the pressure off and simply say.

‘Some managers will sit here and say ‘we’re going to do this and that and get promotion’ I’m telling you that we’re getting better and what will be will be.’

I’m not an expert on Dougie’s singing voice so I can’t tell you if it’s a good thing or not, but he didn’t break in to ‘Que Sera, Sera’ at that point.
