Has Tottenham Target Turned Down New Bumper Palace Deal

|

With reports of Crystal Palace pushing the club coffers wide to tie down Wilfried Zaha to a new contract extension this summer, and suggestions of a £125,000 per week deal being presented to him, this weekend has seen speculation that the deal has been rejected.

That, of course, has sparked further rehashing of Zaha to Tottenham rumours which have been with us all summer so far. There’s nothing concrete in the reports by the likes of the Mirror and even though they say Tottenham have taken ‘fresh encouragement’ from the so-called news, they admit themselves that if there is any truth to it, it’s typical negotiation tactics from the agent as they look to eek that little bit more out of a deal.

The deal on the table would reportedly make our 25-year-old the top earner at Selhurst Park and they expect Palace to go back with an improved offer, but throw Chelsea’s name into the mix as well to help pad it.

To be honest, it’s standard media fare these days in the world of football, and football.london take the opportunity to remind Palace fans of what Zaha said himself following the final day victory over West Bromwich Albion.

“I have no plans on leaving. I’m enjoying my football, you can see how much I’m enjoying it. This is my home and there’s no reason for me to leave.”

Wilf would’ve learnt from his Manchester United experience and he said the words above when it was already being reported that Tottenham had a credible interest in him, so the safe bet is only believe official confirmation here – don’t get sidetracked as the press rehash last month’s work and try and give it a fresh angle so readers think they are onto something.
