Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has said he’s waiting on a final assessment for Ruben Loftus-Cheek ahead of this weekend’s game against Everton but Christian Benteke has been passed fit for a return to action.

Speaking to Crystal Palace FC as he met with the media ahead of the game, Hodgson gave an update on Loftus-Cheek who had to leave the field after 30 minutes in his second full England appearance against Germany in midweek with a lower back problem.

‘We are assessing Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who has a back spasm, but he hasn`t trained today and we probably won`t know until tomorrow or even on Saturday.’

With Benteke missing following the injury he sustained against Manchester City, he is now back to full fitness and back in contention for Hodgson.

‘Christian Benteke has trained all week which is very positive but Patrick Van Aanholt is still suffering from his hamstring strain. We hope Christian can play a big part for us now going forward but it must be remembered he hasn`t played for seven weeks but it`s good because he is physically fit to play and I certainly don`t see it as a risk playing him. He has worked very hard to get himself 100% fit and has had a number of training sessions this week.’
