Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has said he’s after at least four signings in the remainder of the January transfer window.

Speaking to Sky Sports as he met with the media ahead of our tie against Arsenal this weekend, transfer talk obviously featured in the questioning and Hodgson admitted he was hoping to get at least four deals over the line in the remaining week and a bit as he looks to bolster the group.

Having said prevously he would ideally like six to seven, but with the club making no progress yet it seems on our targets, I guess Hodgson is now trying to focus in as time runs out.

‘Our realistic thoughts after I’d been in the club two or three weeks was four, to make the squad as balanced and well-covered as it could be. The reason I said it could go higher than that is quite simply because we’ve lost two players until the end of the season, Jeffrey Schlupp is likely to be out for quite a while and we are uncertain at the moment as to how long Ruben Loftus-Cheek will be out.’

Hodgson went on to say.

‘There are four players there that I really counted on as being part of our first XI even that we’ve lost. I don’t think it’s unrealistic to think if we could get more than four players, it would be good for us, if we don’t get the four players then our squad is going to be short of numbers apart from anything else. We are certainly going to be weak in certain areas where we don’t have the cover and the competition for places we would like, but we are also actually going to be short of numbers.’

With some improvements following his arrival as gaffer, the Croydon Advertiser also have him saying that he doesn’t believe he will have problems attracting new signings to the club.

‘Every manager who is trying to sign a player will be pitching and trying to paint his club in the best possible light. I obviously believe that this is a club that has very good potential, we are in the heart of London and we have a set up that will allow us, if we are able to get out of the mess that we have got ourselves into this year, then we are a club that can move forward.’

Hodgson went on to explain.

‘I think we are a club that already has some good quality Premier League players in our ranks so I think anyone of good quality that is joining us will look at that and think ‘I know he is good and I know that he has got the tight type of qualities to help the team move forward’. I would honestly believe that we are in quite a good position to compete against other clubs and try to persuade a player that we are the right club for him, given that he is within our budget in terms of transfers and given that he is within our budget in terms of the wages we pay.’
