For a few years we have heard “wait until John Bostock breaks through into the first team”, “what a talent”, “never seen anyone so skillfull” etc, etc, etc , so he becomes Palace’s youngest ever player, shows us that he is, what everyone has been saying, and is now at this time is being brain washed to move to a bigger and better club.

Every Palace fan has dreamed of wearing the red and blue, I know I did, and I also know that money wouldn’t drag me away, I would want to give my all to the club that I support, yes ok you probably would move on eventually, but I would make sure I would have given all the Palace staff, fans plus myself something to remember, any fan of any club would.

Now John Bostock is a Palace fan, his family are Palace fans, his agent is not.

So now it looks like John will be moving on to Spurs without even giving any return to the faith the academy staff have given him over the last 8 years.

Palace assistant manager Mick Jones told the South London Press: “The sensible approach is for our chairman to speak to them directly but if the figures can`t be negotiated we will go to tribunal and our evidence is fabulous.

“The situation has now gone from personal warmth to being a business one and John`s been with the club since the age of seven, in the first-team at 15 and been captain of England U17s. That is proof of the potential he`s got.

“There`s also no dispute he`s gone to one of the top clubs in the world and that`s also relevant. With all due respect, if he was moving to Wigan it would be a different ball-game. They must rate him highly and he can`t come cheap. It should all stack up well in our favour.

“Simon Jordan`s already made the point he would rather have the player here but if John`s decided to move on you`ve got to get the best for Crystal Palace.”

Palace-Echo editor hit the nail on the head when he told the SLP ‘It does seem a shame that, given our record of blooding youngsters, including John himself, somewhere along the line someone feels his opportunity lies elsewhere.

‘I don`t think there is any club in the top two divisions who would give him a better chance of playing.

“If there is blame to be attached it`s with his advisors but we don`t know what the dialogue with the club was like – negotiations are inevitably going to be a lot more secretive than they would be for a more established player.”

John if you truly are a Palace fan follow your heart, if your not, well, good luck and thanks alot.

Shame you’re gunna lose him, he seems a decent prospect. Tottenham took Dean Parrett off us, and he does seem a real prospect, such a pity when you lose players you’ve nurtured and the Premier League teams cherry-pick them. This statement could prove to be hippocritical in a few years!
