Alan Pardew has made it clear he’ll ‘shuffle’ the Crystal Palace pack for the League Cup meeting with Southampton tonight. However Joe Ledley feels whoever Pardew selects to play will perform.

Well the Welsh international is at least hopeful they will as he knows some of the ‘fringe players’ (if you will) are likely to be given a chance for Palace tonight with them needing to take it.

The side Pardew does select for this cup tie at the St Mary’s Stadium will still be representing the club regardless with Ledley telling Sky Sports he’s confident about the job they’ll do.

‘It doesn’t matter who the gaffer puts out, you are going to represent Crystal Palace Football Club and you have to go and perform to the best possible standard that you can.’

As for the match itself, which of course will see Pardew come up against his former club with former Palace keeper Alex McCarthy likely to be selected in the Southampton goal, the midfielder added he’s well aware this will be difficult.

The most recent cup meetings have seen Palace get the upper hand, not that this counts for much.

‘Obviously it is going to be difficult though because Southampton are a good team with a good squad and we will need to go there and perform. We have played them a few times and came out on top, but we don’t want to jinx that and we know it will be a hard game.’

Both sides will rotate and both come into this third round meeting having won in the Premier League over the weekend with Palace on a two-match winning run now.
