Having left the club once before, for Manchester United in 2013, Crystal Palace are hopeful Wilfried Zaha can be secured on a ‘bumper’ contract to fend off interest from Tottenham and Arsenal.

According to the Sun, Palace’s Player of the Year award winner will be offered an improved contract that would earn Zaha a staggering £120,000 a week at Selhurst Park.

Getting the ball rolling in Sunday’s 4-0 win over Hull to confirm Palace’s Premier League status, Zaha is a player Sam Allardyce – delighted by the thrashing of Hull, which sent them down – will now look to build a team around him next season as the Eagles look to ensure we’ll not see a repeat of this term.

Contracts aren’t worth the paper they’re printed on but if Zaha, 24, can be tied down to an improved deal at Selhurst it’ll strengthen the Palace position when it comes to retaining the winger – certainly the size of any fee received.

Assuming these Sun reports are correct, it could be argued, many people would, Zaha shouldn’t require a massive pay rise to commit his future to the contract already in place, but that’s modern day football for you isn’t it.
