Paddy McCarthy has said Palace will be hoping to give fans the bragging rights this season.

Speaking to the Croydon Advertiser as we renew our battle with Charlton this campaign, Paddy said the club were hoping to better our derby results from last season.

‘We had a fantastic record in the derby games last year and we’ll be looking to do that again this season. I’ll be looking forward to that game (Charlton). I think these games are massively important for the supporters, it’s a great feeling and hopefully we can do that this year.’

McCarthy continued to add that newboys Ward and Martin had fitted right in, and have certainly embraced the work ethic on the training pitch, so he’s not concerned that defensively we will be any weaker this season after the departures of Clyne and Gardner.
