Palace Fight To Keep Hold Of Star As Tottenham Rumours Continue

|

With speculation continuing to swirl about the future of Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha and Tottenham Hotspur heavily linked in the red tops, it’s being reported today that Palace have begun their fight to keep the 25-year-old at Selhurst Park.

The Mirror were one of many to report late last night/today that Palace had approached Zaha with a second new contract inside of the last 13 months to head off the rumours of a move away.

Namely, a reported contract worth over £120,000 a week to ensure our starlet remains with us.

Zaha signed a new five-year deal last summer and reports suggested that deal was worth in the region of £100,000, leaving him only second to what we are supposedly paying Christian Benteke. With the relative form of both players last season and this summer’s speculation, it’s believed we want to put him back at the top of the pile as both a reward and a statement of intent to others.

With Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool all linked and said to have ‘expressed’ interest in him, tellingly it’s also said our offer is higher than it’s believed would be on offer elsewhere – certainly Tottenham.

Having said:

“I am enjoying my football and I am contracted at Palace. I don’t really see myself anywhere else. I have no plans on leaving. This is my home.”

Fans will certainly be hoping that continues to be true to this day as he showed once again, he puts the effort in to back that statement up when he’s on the pitch.

Fans are naturally delighted with the news and now we hope it’s signed and sealed quickly.
