Palace get it wrong

Charlton manager Alan Pardew, the goal hero in Palaces 4-3 FA Cup Semi Final against Liverpool in 1990, was given a great reception from all sides of the ground before kick-off.

But hero turned villian because his summer signings seem to have gelled, and had the upper hand on Palace for most of this match.

Palace should have gone ahead in the 15th minute, however, but for
the reactions of Addicks goalkeeper Nicky Weaver, who tipped James
Scowcroft’s close-range header around the post.

Charlton just seemed to take control of the game with some neat passing but not a lot in front of the Palace goal, It was looking like Palace were holding on for the draw then on 64 mins Svetoslav Todorov came off the bench and within 7 minites put Charlton 1-0 up, he pounced on some lapse defending, and Speroni shouting ‘KEEPERS’, to easily score in the very poor south London derby.

On-loan Liverpool teenager Besian Idrizaj almost salvaged a point for
Palace but his header was kept out at full stretch by Weaver.

A lot of time wasting later and the game was over, the Ref for me, made some really terrible decisions against Palace, 2 pens were blanked, but maybe thats me just picking, for a very poor, and I mean very poor south London derby, Charlton wanted it just that little bit more…..
