Crystal Palace are through to the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup after an impressive 3-1 victory against Tranmere at Selhurst Park. Tranmere played well in the first half and can feel slightly aggrieved at the score line, but it was the superior finishing of the Palace youngsters that most separated these sides. Striker Lewis Grabban enjoyed a productive evening scoring the opener and setting up subsequent goals for Ryan Hall and James Dayton. Palace will host either Millwall or Watford in the next round of a tournament which has given the club some special memories, and rare silverware, in the past.

Elsewhere the performance of Waltham Forest in reaching the fourth round is deserving of special praise. Although they lost to Brentford they were the only non-league team left in the competition and had beaten West Brom in the previous round. The team from the Southern League were one of only six sides from outside the top two divisions to make it to the last thirty two in a tournament traditionally dominated by established full time academy clubs.
