Defeat to Liverpool in the FA Cup was probably what Palace deserved but did we deserve the 2-1 Premier League defeat to Arsenal on Saturday? You have to say that we deserved at least a point but it was Arsenal that went away from Selhurst with all three to continue their run of eight wins from nine and an impressive run against us at home….

We started well but then a foul by Souare, on his Premier League debut, needlessly lost the ball to Welbeck before bringing him down to give Arsenal a penalty, but was it a penalty? Cazorla (8) casually stroked it home.

An equaliser couldn’t be found with the lead doubled in first half injury-time when Speroni kept out Welbeck’s effort, but was he offside before this, but Giroud (45+1) was on hand to put away the rebound to leave Arsenal in a strong position.

Again we pushed on in the second half but could have been put to bed when Ozil led a counter-attack that Sanchez fired past Speroni but wide.

Still the breakthrough couldn’t come, Gayle, Puncheon and closest of all Bolasie, who made a big difference when he came on, forced a save from Ospina. In injury-time we finally got a goal when Zaha’s effort was blocked with Murray (90+4) scrambling home to give us hope. An unlikely, but no unwarranted, draw would have come but for the post when his header from another great Bolasie cross beat Ospina but then came back off it into his grateful hands.

Following this game, as is customary of course, attention now turns to the MotM for us – who you think this was?
