Palace held Man City at bay in the first half at Selhurst Park on Saturday lunchtime but eventually the reigning Premier League Champions’ dominance paid off in the second half as they won at the Etihad Stadium.

Three second half goals saw them through to a three-nil win, and showed why they are closing in on a club record run of successive wins.

A Man City side without a recognised striker turned to England man James Milner as the striker, this lack of a striker would have given us extra hope of gaining something, but we knew we would have to take our chances and we started well enough.

It was Man City having the chances though Nasri, on more than one occasion and Fernandinho but City ‘keeper Hart wasn’t a bystander Bolasie forcing a save out of him and Campbell’s overhead kick wasn’t too far wide.

For the pressure that Man City might have been having they weren’t forcing Speroni into too many serious saves and we got through to half time at nil-nil, also finishing with some half chances of our own.

Within minutes of the second half though Man City did breakthrough Zabaleta crossed into Silva (49) and he broke the deadlock with Toure almost doubling the lead soon after but his header went just over. Kolarov was the provider of the second just past the hour when Silva (61) converted his pull back.

If we were going to get back into the game we had to score quickly, which we thought we had at the midway point of the second half when Bolasie crossed into McArthur who headed home, but his header was disallowed when the linesman’s flag went up for offside, which he wasn’t!

The game was won but Man City made sure when Toure (81) beat Speroni at the near post to finish a counter attack and wrap up a three-nil win and move them joint top, at that stage, of the league.
