The 100% under Alan Pardew finally came to an end on Saturday afternoon when Everton became the first side, in league or cup, to beat Palace under his management when they went away from Selhurst with a one-nil win.

An early goal was enough to see Everton return to Merseyside with all three-points.

Everton got off to a great start when Naismith’s cross was turned away by Speroni, but straight into the path of Lukaku (2) who made no mistake to put the visitors ahead inside two-minutes.

We responded well and also drew level immediately but the excellent Jagielka got back to deny Gayle another goal as he cleared his effort off the line.

The lost of Chamakh, after a clash of head with Coleman was a blow, but we still pushed for an equaliser but could not quite manage it with Everton going close to adding another late on but the early goal was enough to give them the points.

I don’t think that we’ll be panicking too much off the back of a first defeat though will we? We shouldn’t be as if we had been told we wouldn’t drop anything, and win two FA Cup ties, until a fifth game under his management we would have taken it – not that we wanted to lose mind….
