Yesterday evening it was being claimed that former French international Yohan Cabaye had rejected Crystal Palace’s attempts to tie him down to a new contract and had rather strangely completed a free agent move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr FC.

The 32-year-old’s contract was obviously up this summer and as the calendar ticked into July Sunday saw him technically out of contract, so he’s well within his rights to have made such a decision and presumably signed new terms elsewhere.
Whilst at points he had issues at Selhurst Park in terms of greater consistency in his play, he was still an integral part of the squad under Roy Hodgson as we avoided the drop in 2017/18 and he undoubtedly has a few years left at Premier League level, but it appears he’s jumped for what many believe is simply a final payday.
It’s a strange decision whichever way you look at it, it certainly is for me as he could’ve made this payday move in a year or two easily enough.
It appears I’m not the only one a little confused – if this turns out to be accurate as at time of writing I’m seeing no other source for this story. Now confirmed at least by Sky Sports.
After his last payday……
