After the dust settles on this match, it is very clear that unless this collection of players start playing as a team, start scoring goals and start keeping clean sheets the 2012/13 season will end in only one way for Palace. I have never been so worried since I started supporting Palace 40 years ago! If we are not in the habit of winning matches by the end of September then we will be in a lower division next season. That is the only reward that Palace will get unless they start trying harder, working harder and believing in themselves.

Confidence or new players bedding in? It takes time to gel, but we shouldn’t be seeing results like this whilst that happens as the core of the side should be enough to see us through whilst others adjust. We are missing Paddy clearly, but there are players in the team who need to step up and lead by example now. There’s more than enough time to turn this round, but we can’t get stuck in a rut.
