Dougie Freedman has said he doesn’t judge strikers on goals alone, especially on loan James Vaughan.

Vaughan netted his eighth goal of the season for the Eagles in our 2-1 loss to QPR, but whilst Freedman was delighted to see him find the net again, he was adamant that he doesn’t judge strikers by the number of goals they grab – he’s looking for their overall contribution to the team instead.

‘I don’t judge my strikers on goals, I judge them on performances and the performances James puts in week in week out hassling the other teams have been outstanding.’

Freedman adds that a goal is the icing on the cake for a forward, but that’s for them to enjoy, there overall performance is something for the team to benefit from.

‘For the team’s satisfaction it’s more important performances are up there, performances count for everything.’
