Crystal Palace have published a statement on the club website warning potential trialists at the club over a possible scam.

The statement on Crystal Palace FC reads.

‘The club would like to make trialists aware that we believe there to be a scam operating in the area where players are offered trials at Crystal Palace in exchange for payment.’

The club gives two examples whereby an unfortunate Spanish player arrived at the training ground having been asked to pay £600 in exchange for a trial and the clubs’ secretary has also received an email from the USA stating that a trial had been offered on payment.

The statement continues.

‘Both incidents have been reported to the police and trialists should be aware that the club under no circumstances require a fee for a trial.’

  • Ugh. There’s no limits to what some people will stoop to. I wonder whether Palace have actually decided to take a look at either of these kids despite the scam?
