James McArthur, Andros Townsend and Joe Ledley have all been giving their thoughts following victory over Stoke City at the weekend.

Taking the four one victory at Selhurst Park to register back to back victories and dent that poor winning record in 2016 so far, obviously all three players were delighted with the performance on the day, and the ruthless nature the side showed in front of goal.

Speaking to Crystal Palace FC firstly, McArthur explained.

‘It was a very good performance at both ends of the pitch and it was disappointing at the end to concede the goal because the way the back four and the goalkeeper played deserved a clean sheet today. Today, like my goal before last, took a deflection but I am sure it was going into the top corner this afternoon anyway! It was really good to get one anyway and importantly as a team we got the three points.’

With the win moving Palace into eighth in the table, he went on to say that it shows we are moving in the right direction, but work on improvement is far from over.

‘It is no secret that we are a club in transition but we are handling it well and since that second half a few weekends ago against Bournemouth we have turned the corner really. We are looking like we can beat anyone our day. Scott Dann`s equaliser against Bournemouth has certainly got us on our way after playing so well in the second half of that match. The amount of shots we got in during the second half of that match gave us a lot of confidence and then we went to Middlesbrough and got a good result. Then today we took it on again and got the result.’

‘When you have the pace in the side that we have we are so dangerous, we have pace and quality that is backed up by Christian being up top he becomes a point for us to hit and with him being at top clubs we know what he brings to our side. We need to kick on again, there is a great confidence in our dressing room and we go into our next Premier League game at Sunderland looking to continue the good work of the last couple of weeks.’

As for Townsend, he was also pleased with the performance, but also his first goal for the club on the day aswell.

‘It was a great day all round. We knew if we started quickly, like we did against Middlesbrough, we’d get some early goals – and it turned out that way. It turned out to be a great afternoon for us. We’ve got the option of route one football, because we’ve got Christian and he can deal with it. But we can also play through teams like we did today and cut teams open. It’s good that we’ve got both options to use. I was brought to this club to contribute with goals and assists. I’ve been a little disappointed so far this season that I haven’t been able to do that, but to get a goal and an assist in one game, I’m delighted with that. Hopefully I can keep that going in the next few games. Wilf got his goal and assist last game, today was my turn.’

Finally Ledley was in front of the media, and he was pleased to have given the home fans something to cheer.

‘At home we have been disappointed with our form at times but in this game we played some great football. Even though I am playing just in front of the back four I do like to attack as well but with the three of us in midfield we can mix it up, its great to play with Maccer and Punch in there as they work their socks off but we also got the ball down and played some great football in this win.’

He also believed the fans would see more performances like that in the future given all the hard work that was being done on the training pitch.

‘We have been working in training at just not sitting in and defending all game, its also important that we attack and get goals and that is what we were able to do in this victory. We were fantastic straight from the off and started well just like last week at Middlesbrough so it was important to continue that. Its always nice to be appreciated in what you do and even though I don’t get many goals I am there doing what I need to do for the team and help make them play. The fans have been fantastic to me since I have been here so hopefully I have many more performances to come.’
