Crystal Palace’s Premier League season continued with a win at Stamford against Bridge on Saturday!

What had I said pre-match? Something about Palace ‘crashing previous parties’ and this would be something the Eagles would look to do on Mourinho’s 100th Premier League game in charge of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge….

Palace only went and did it didn’t they with Sako and Ward goals, either side of a Falcao equaliser, leading to a two-one win! Which send Palace into the international break in the best possible of ways.

Last season the title was secured by Chelsea with a win against Palace, with Chelsea starting brightly too with Pedro going close with a curling effort before some really good work from Costa won Chelsea a corner, from this Wickham and Zouma were pulling each others shirts with the Chelsea defender calling for a penalty that didn’t come.

Palace, enjoying exploiting Chelsea down our left and in particular Ivanovic’s right, saw Sako denied his second goal to follow up his debut one by the foot of Courtois, with the Belgium international ‘keeper saving from Cabaye too.

Sako and Zaha combined with the latter putting a ball through a Chelsea defender’s leg to the well-placed Cabaye, who probably should have done better with his effort that was saved.

McCarthy, with a double save with the ball then scrambled away, denied Chelsea before the break. Costa again working well to pull out a good save from McCarthy, who was up to save from Fabregas follow up with the ball then cleared. Continued form like this and McCarthy will not only be hard to dislodge as the Palace no.1 but could get himself back into the England squad?

Another penalty shout came from Costa in the second half but it wasn’t with it a well-timed Delaney challenge as he – Ireland must be well stocked to not pick the Palace captain! – kept a good hold of Costa all afternoon and the Spaniard didn’t like it.

Pedro saw another effort deflected wide for a corner, from this Cahill saw his header cleared off the line with Palace then stunning the home fans at Stamford Bridge when Sako (65) scored!

Again this came down the Palace left with Bolasie getting the ball into the former Wolves striker who showed composure to slam the ball past Courtois, who should have been picking the ball out of the net against when Bolasie himself got onto the end of another telling cross.

That missed was punished by Falcao (79) as he headed Chelsea level, however that joy lasted for only a couple of minutes as Palace restored the lead when Bolasie, who had Ivanovic on toast, crossed into Sako who turned the ball back to Ward (81) who headed home what proved to be the winner.

Palace toyed with Chelsea in the final minutes, pulling out all the tricks and showboating with McCarthy’s save from Fabregas making sure of another famous Palace win, making it eight wins from the last 10-matches on the road under Pardew.
