Ben Watson reflects on his strange summer, the start to the season with Crystal Palace and his relationship with Neil Warnock.

“I’m not doing too badly at the moment but it was a strange summer for me. It has been a strange start to the season as well.

“I haven’t been playing, which is difficult to take but these things happen in football. I want to play for Palace and hopefully I will start getting those opportunities, starting this Saturday against Swansea.

“I feel good but the only way to get match fitness is by actually playing matches. I haven’t had that opportunity this season but I train hard every day. Hopefully I can start playing a few now.

“Me and the gaffer have had a number of chats and I know how he feels. He knows I want to play games and I am hoping to play a part this weekend. Our relationship is still good – even if people might expect it to be a bit frosty. That’s not the case at all. It is as good as ever and nothing has changed.

“I hope that my relationship with the fans stays that way too. I hope that they won’t give me a rough time. I want them to know that whenever I put the Palace shirt on I will always give 100 per cent. That will never change. It would be nice if they can understand that.”

Got to feel sorry for him, this is Jordan’s fault in my book – he faffed about on the fee and we (QPR) went elsewhere. Now he’s stuck and left to deal with his words. Think he’ll move on in January, what with signing Tommasi, it won’t be to us.

I can see him going to QPR. He said that’s where he wants to go and that’s where he will be next season. The deal could go through in Jan but i can’t see Jordan backing off on the price so he more likely to move on a free.
