Wilfried Zaha has said he has to learn to control his temper following his sending off, and he realises he is now going to be a target for stray legs.

Speaking to the London Evening Standard the 19 year old admitted he was struggling with the attention he was getting from more aggressive defenders, but he knows it’s something he needs to learn how to do and if anything channel any anger into finding the back of the net as opposed to their shins.

‘It’s something that I’m struggling to handle, I’m going to have to because I’m the kind of player that’s going to get kicked. I just have to deal with it and not react. All I can do is learn and make sure it never happens again. Every game goes towards my development and this is another lesson.’

It’s the perfect way of addressing it, and Dougie Freedman is right that referee’s need to start looking at the treatment Wilf will now get on a more regular basis and act appropriately. But he can’t react, and if he learns that lesson then the red card will have served it’s purpose.
