On loan Chelsea youngster Ruben Loftus-Cheek has spoken of his delight at returning to training at Crystal Palace having recovered from his injury.

The 22 year old attended his first training session with the team this week having returned to Chelsea for treatment after picking up an ankle injury in the game against Arsenal just after Christmas.

Having now got the all clear to be back out on the pitch and build his fitness properly, Loftus-Cheek told Crystal Palace FC that he was pleased to be back and now his main aim was getting back into contention for the first team.

‘It was really good and happy to get back in the swing of things, get training and now I want to get back playing as soon as possible.’

With Loftus-Cheek not being out for as long as initially feared, he went on to say.

‘My right ankle took a little bit of a fracture and it has taken a while but thankfully I am back now and that is the good thing. In the first place it was scary because we didn`t know how long it would take and what was the best road to go down but I went back to Chelsea for physio and rehab and worked really hard to get back.’

Despite returning to Chelsea for treatment, he had obviously been keeping a close eye on things at Palace.

‘I have been following all the games and I think we have been unlucky in a few especially against Man Utd and Tottenham with the last minute winners but I still think we can climb the table with the matches to come.’

Down to his fitness and Roy Hodgson’s judgement on whether or not he returns for the Huddersfield Town clash.
