Frank de Boer will make Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek his first signing as Crystal Palace boss.
Appointed last month, de Boer was linked with Barcelona pair Thomas Vermaelen and Jasper Cillessen on Sunday. However, England U21 international Loftus-Cheek will become his first arrival at Selhurst Park.
We’ll all hope Loftus-Cheek has better success with Palace than his Chelsea teammate Loic Remy, his season-long loan at Selhurst ended with the Frenchman barely featuring due to injury.
Loftus-Cheek had been linked with various Premier League rivals but the deal for the midfielder to come to Palace and gain topflight experience is ‘expected to go through in the next 24 hours,’ according to Sky Sports.
During his time at Chelsea under Antonio Conte, who apparently rates him highly, but has struggled to fit him into his star-studded midfield, Loftus-Cheek has managed just 11 appearances.
All six of his league appearances during the Premier League winning campaign under the Italian last season came from the bench.
