Crystal Palace have completed the loan signing of Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

The England U21 international will spend the upcoming season at Selhurst Park and becomes the first signing of new Palace boss Frank de Boer.

Having been born in Lewisham the midfielder is familiar with the area and returns to south London a happy man.

After his season-long deal was confirmed Loftus-Cheek, 22, told the Official Website the opportunity to spend the campaign at Selhurst Park would ‘be great’ for him and Palace is a club he wanted to be part of.

‘I had the option of coming to Palace and I thought that it would be great for me. I live not too far away, I was born in Lewisham and Palace is good club so I thought it`s a good chance to play here and be a part of the team. They have a very strong team and I`d like to be a part of that this season.’

Since breaking into the Chelsea first team, making his debut in December 2014, Loftus-Cheek has made 32 appearances for Chelsea and scored two goals – winning the Premier League twice having won various honours with the Blues at youth level.

Looking to force his way into the senior England squad in the future, winning 17 caps at U21 level, this stint at Selhurst Park will help him as it should mean Loftus-Cheek can show what he can do week-in-week-out.
