With Roy Hodgson heaping praise on Crystal Palace Academy graduate Aaron Wan-Bissaka the other day, his break through season goes from strength to strength as he’s been called into the England Under 20 squad for the first time.

Having been called upon by Hodgson for the game against Tottenham where he made his senior Premier League bow, the 20 year old now has three appearances to his name having featured from the start in matches against Manchester United and Chelsea in recent weeks, and his performances have seen him named in the England Under 20 squad this week for their upcoming matches against Poland and Portugal.

The youngster found out early on Thursday prior to the news being released and he told Crystal Palace FC that he was excited about the opportunity and the experience as he continues his development.

‘I found out this morning when I arrived at the training ground, I was excited but also in shock. I want to achieve a lot with this time.’

Wan-Bissaka does have international experience previously as he was a one time cap for the Democratic Republic of Congo at their Under 20 international level, and ironically it came against England two years ago and he’s hoping for a better experience this time around.

‘The result wasn’t what we wanted. It will be even better, to represent my country would be an honour so I am excited at the prospect.’

Speaking more generally about his experiences so far this season, he went on to say.

‘I enjoyed it a lot, we have been playing well as a team and kept fighting and hopefully I can keep playing for them. It will be tough (Huddersfield) but I think we can at least get a point away from home.’
