Elite Player Performance Plan Blasted By Parish

Steve Parish has blasted the decision to pass the Elite Player Performance Plan as in Parish’s mind it simply punishes clubs who try to develop talent.

Speaking out in The Sun Parish said.

‘Football league clubs took their 30 pieces of silver. As far as the Premier League is concerned, we’re here for their benefit. This penalises clubs who try to develop talent. The top clubs are going to stockpile as many kids as they can and when they don’t make it they’ll sell them back to us. This is about turning academies of the top clubs into businesses.’

Additionally a club Statement read as follows.

‘Whilst this will mean additional revenue coming into clubs in the form of grants it will mean that compensation levels will be drastically reduced.’

When Simon Jordan slammed the fee of £750,000 for John Bostock, under the new rules we would receive only around £130,000 – which kind of puts it in perspective.

Parish added.

‘As a club that has regularly produced players through our Academy we totally embrace the principles of the EPPP meaning that contact time between the players and the club will be increased. We did however vote against the proposal on the basis that Premier League clubs will now be able to poach our best players for a lower fixed fee completely undermining our investment.’

Ridiculous decision to pass this, and yet another nail in the coffin of proper football to the benefit of the top 4 Sky BS we get fed now.
