Exciting Plans Afoot!

If you’re not always looking to make plans, that will allow you to move forward, then you’ll – at best – stand still! This isn’t what Palace a planning for in the future as we want to go places and as such we’re already making plans with the summer in mind.

With another season of Premier League football all but secured plans are being put in place for an ‘exciting summer of recruitment’ at Selhurst Park that will help us to build on our consolidation back in the topflight to kick on to another level, all being well.

Alan Pardew feels that we’re in the same bracket as most in the group just below the top half a dozen or so clubs and as a result we’re being contacted by clubs such as Benfica and Inter Milan about players we might possibly be interested in?

‘We are getting calls regarding players from Inter Milan and Benfica because they are our market now. Palace now come into the same group as everybody below the likes of Everton, Tottenham and Liverpool, and the most important thing is to try to trade well.

‘It’s important to preserve your Premier League status early. If you leave it late, it is very difficult to get players. You don’t want other teams putting packages together and working on players before you can.

‘We are pretty secure in approaching clubs and players now as a Premier League side for next season and that’s what we will do. We have the finance to do what we say we are going to do. So it does give us a slight advantage.’

Clearly our first priority again next season will be to stay in the Premier League but midtable consolidation will, possibly, be what some will feel we can realistically aim for and if our summer recruitment goes well and is as exciting as it’s predicted it could be that such thoughts might not be an unfair expectation from the 2015/16 season?

With all the money that the Premier League generates, not to mention the new TV deal – and the possible takeover from Josh Harris, it promises to be exciting times ahead at Selhurst Park but we’ll know better than most that we shouldn’t, and you would hope we wouldn’t, be spending ‘beyond our means’ so we’ve got to bare that in mind to with what is expected!
