It’s being reported today that former Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini is now undergoing a medical at Crystal Palace.
The French 32 year old is a free agent following his release by Arsenal over the summer, so the transfer window closing does not get in the way of a deal being done.
Manager Alan Pardew had confirmed our interest in the player on Tuesday, saying.
‘I like the fact whenever he played, he played in the big, big games at Arsenal when they needed someone to kind of lead the team over the line and get big results. I have always admired what he’s done, so I am looking at him. We’ve had a couple of meetings with Mathieu to talk about what he would do here and how he would feel about competing with Yohan Cabaye, James McArthur, Jason Puncheon, Jordon Mutch, Chung Yong Lee and Joe Ledley.’
Today reports suggest those talks have progressed nicely indeed and a medical is now taking place – or has taken place – that could see an announcement later this evening.
