Dougie Freedman is confident that Palace can win the race for highly rated Dulwich Hamlet youngster Quade Taylor.

Speaking to News Shopper Freedman admitted other clubs were in for the talented youngster, but Palace were determined to battle in order to secure the signature of the versatile 17 year old.

‘It’s close to going through. He’s got one or two other options, but we’re in their fighting.’

Freedman along with other club staff are making a concerted effort to scalp promising youngsters from other clubs now to improve our future, and key to that plan is chief scout Steve Kember.

‘Kember is running it, not just playing a part. He’s come back as chief scout and he’s seeing what’s on the market in terms of players who can bolster our squad.’

Freedman likes the way we are bringing young talented players into the club and developing them to play a role in the first team, and he’s determined that not only will that continue but that the policy grows and we get the best youngsters we can coming through our ranks.
