After scoring his first goal in eight years against Leicester, Danny Gabbidon is hopeful he will now get an extended run in the first team.

Speaking to Crystal Palace FC the 33 year old said he surprised himself at getting on the scoresheet as it was the last thing he expected.

‘The gaffer’s been saying we need to start sharing the goals around, Muzza’s scored a lot of goals and there haven’t maybe been enough from the defence and midfield. We worked a bit on set pieces and it was nice to get on the end of one and see it go in. I was a little surprised actually, but it was a nice feeling.’

As for his appearance tally since joining the club, Gabbidon admits it’s been a stop start season for him, but hopefully now he’ll get a run in the side where he can show what he can do, and of course, Palace can get back to winning ways.
