Dwight Gayle came close to leaving Crystal Palace in the summer but eventually he remained and got himself back into Alan Pardew’s first-team plans, and was going along nicely until he picked up an injury that saw him out of the side again.

With the transfer window now open the talks among the media are again turning towards him moving away from Selhurst Park, with it likely he could be one of those most at risk in the squad of being offloaded so Pardew can bring in players this month he would like to.

Gayle turned down Bristol City so a move to fellow Championship club Derby wouldn’t seem too likely as he wants Premier League football with Newcastle and Norwich ‘set to do battle’ for his signature this month by all accounts.

Publically Pardew’s view is Gayle remains in his plans and he isn’t for sale but as said he could be one offloaded, but only if the price is right….

Coming into the club could be Jonjo Shelvey? He is being linked with Palace as well as Newcastle, with claims made he had been involved in a ‘bust up’ at Swansea leaving his future in doubt and following the decision of caretaker boss Alan Curtis to leave him out of the squad to face Man United he could be on his way, despite this being played down.

Various papers have linked him with Palace but the England international isn’t likely to come cheap!

Having left Palace, with him returning to Chelsea midway through his agreed season-long loan, Patrick Bamford has various suitors so he could well come up against us in the second half of the season with the likes of Norwich, Swansea and Bournemouth all credited with an interest with a possible permanent deal taking him away from Stamford Bridge.
