Everton have denied reports that West Ham United are to make a big-money bid for star striker by insisting Andy Johnson is not for sale.

West Ham are interested in bringing the former Crystal Palace forward back to London, and are said to be prepared to pay between £13 million and £18 million.

Everton chief executive Keith Wyness was adamant Johnson would remain at Goodison Park. “We have had no contact from any club with regard to Andrew Johnson – nor would we welcome any,’ Wyness told the official Everton website.

“Whilst I feel certain there will be many Premiership clubs who will covet a player of Andrew`s skills and abilities, he is an Everton player and, as he made perfectly clear on several occasions last season, he is very happy to be an Everton player.”

Money talks and if Everton were to sell for say 18m then Palace would reap in estimation of at least 2/3m , depending on how the sell on clause was worked out, plus the 4.5m still outstanding would be a nice sum.
