Holloway On Cup Distraction

Ian Holloway has said he welcomes the chance to test ourselves against Stoke in the FA Cup, but admits his focus is on promotion so he doesn’t want the game to become a distraction.

Speaking to the South London Press Holloway admitted that he didn’t believe our cup run last season did us any favours in the league, and he certainly doesn’t want that to happen again.

‘It’s a good opportunity for our lads to actually have a game against a well established, tough Premier League team, to see where we are. But we’ve lost Kagisho Dikgacoi for that already, so I need to determine how I look at it. It’s a fantastic competition but to me it’s a distraction rather than the main thing I’m focused on.’

We certainly don’t want our league form to suffer because of it, but a cup run is good fun for all – hopefully we can strike a decent balance when it comes to the game.
