Patrick van Aanholt took to social media to celebrate Crystal Palace’s second pre-season victory on our Scandinavian tour as we took a 6-1 victory over Halmstads BK on Monday and then prepared to return to the UK to continue our preparations for the coming Premier League campaign of 2018/19.

With Christian Benteke opening the scoring before he had to go off with a knock, van Aanholt helped himself to a brace in the game and Sullay Kaikai, James McArthur and Jason Puncheon completed the scoreline in the comfortable victory.
As van Aanholt took to Twitter to send the fans a mini self-congratulatory message for his own performance on the day and the two goals scored, well, you could describe it as a comical way of blowing smoke up his own backside, but given the responses of Palace fans to his cheeky message he needn’t have bothered as plenty of others were willing to do that for him.
