The 2016-17 season is now a distant memory, which is hardly a surprise as football never sleeps and the new campaign is on the horizon.

Most plans are now in place, as far as Crystal Palace’s pre-season preparations are concerned ahead of 2017-18, but another fixtures has been put into place.

The new season will now be here before we know it and another tester for Palace ahead of the 2017-18 Premier League campaign has seen a pre-season friendly against Metz announced.

Palace will head to the Stade Saint-Symphorien for this meeting with French Ligue 1 side Metz on Saturday 29th July, kick off has been confirmed as 2pm.

As with any pre-season friendly the main thing to get from this is a challenge and the continuation of fitness being built up – a game such as this should tick all the relevant boxes.

This pre-season friendly, a first in France since 2001, will form the latest phase of boss Frank de Boer’s preparations as he looks to guide Palace to success in the his first Premier League season in charge following his summer appointment at Selhurst Park.
