Palace In Takeover Talks?

There were slight rumblings this week of potential interest in Palace by unnamed and various new owners, and late last night some bones were put on that speculation as the online reports came out.

The Daily Mirror report suggests that talks have been held between the club and US billionaire Joshua Harris, although they were quick to point out the club denied that any deal had been done or possibly was even close at this stage, as another report by the Mirror from the other day says the club have rubbished suggestions of talks full stop, but that didn’t stop the paper from suggesting the talks were at an ‘advanced stage’.

The paper suggests that ‘sources’ close to the club have confirmed the talks and that various discussions have taken place over the past month.

Harris owns basketball franchise Philadelphia 76ers and NHL side New Jersey Devils and it’s been suggested he, along with fellow owners David Blitzer and Inter Milan owner Erick Thohir have been scouting Premier League sides and have settled on Palace as the most appropriate to add to their portfolio.

As part of the discussions it’s suggested that there would be a consideration for fans to own a slice of the club under their new ownership but of course at this stage it could all be pie in the sky, baseless and the details that are around are pretty sketchy at best.

Manager Neil Warnock himself answered the question following the West Bromwich Albion draw and he told the Croydon Guardian.

‘You will have to ask the chairman about that. If the billionaire is in the background I’m sure we will be asking for their telephone numbers to make contact. It’s a great club but they are in good hands. I only know what you might’ve read this morning in a couple of papers. I will be speaking to Steve Parish but you will have to ask him.’
