Sakho Would Stay At Liverpool

On-loan Crystal Palace defender Mamadou Sakho has opened the door to a potential return to the Liverpool first team… if Jurgen Klopp wants him back?

Sakho has been a revelation for Palace, probably not an exaggeration given his form since his arrival at Selhurst Park in January – these performances have brought about plenty of reported interest.

Could he stay at Palace? That could be difficult if it comes down to a bidding war but Sakho, still under contract for several years, isn’t actually rule out remaining at Anfield.

He told Telefoot, via the Daily Express.

‘I still have a contract for three more years. If I were to wear the Liverpool jersey again, I would be happy to do so.’

Explaining his fallout with Klopp, which subsequently saw him frozen out at Liverpool, Sakho said he accepted his fine but doesn’t know what else he can do to change the mind of the Reds boss.

If it’s made absolutely clear, no two ways about it, to the 27 year old he’s got no future at with Liverpool he’ll also accept that and move on – where too? Sakho didn’t say.

‘I was late for training, something that happens everywhere. I paid a fine and I do not know what else I can do. It is up to the boss. He makes the decisions and I can only accept that. And we will see what happens if my future is elsewhere,’ concluded the defender.

Easy for me to say from this viewpoint, but based on form the French international probably should be involved at Liverpool? If Palace can do a sensible deal Sam Allardyce would, surely, welcome him to Selhurst permanently, provided Klopp really doesn’t want him back?
