Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has an injury doubt ahead of this weekend’s trip to Bournemouth.

Speaking to the media in his pre game press conference, the former England manager confirmed that Belgian striker Christian Benteke had been withdrawn from training after picking up a groin issue.

Hodgson explained to Crystal Palace FC.

‘Benteke limped off the training field feeling his groin so we won’t know how well he is until the night passes and he comes in tomorrow morning and he will be assessed again.’

The gaffer went on to say that he asked the doctor to rate his chances, but he was unwilling to at the moment so a decision would be taken on Friday when it came to him potentially starting the match, or taking a place on the bench.

With Benteke only finding the net twice in 26 games this year fans will have their own opinion on how much of a loss he might be if he can’t play any part in the game, but it does pose a problem for Hodgson as Alexander Sorloth remains unavailable for selection as well.

With striker issues at the club well known this season though, there are others who can fill in and lead the line if necessary and it doesn’t necessarily matter how we get the three points, just as long as we do.
