A disappointed Alan Pardew knew we should’ve taken all three points from the clash with Manchester United this weekend.

Speaking to the Crystal Palace FC following the score less draw at Selhurst, Pardew’s delight at the performance and the chances we created was tempered by the final score line.

‘It was a game we should have won, but much more like us. It was a point that I’ll gladly accept.’

With three successive losses, it does draw the line under that of course, but it’s difficult to not see it as two dropped.

‘The Palace way was back. We’d struggled in the last few games to keep that freshness on the pitch, particularly with the defensive players. Really and truly it should have resulted in a win. It’s a great day for the club, considering Man United came here and are lucky to leave with a point.’

Scott Dann was also interviewed after the game, and disappointment was clear from him as well – especially as he had a glorious chance to have broken the deadlock with his header as well.

‘With the chances we created we would have liked to get the three points but it wasn’t to be. I think our general performance was good considering we’d lost three on the bounce and we wanted to put that behind us. We haven’t got the three points today but we have got a good clean sheet and and we move forward now to look ahead to the Liverpool game. It’s never nice to lose games; against Leicester we didn’t perform very well, it wasn’t up to our usual standards. We had to put that right today and we’re delighted we put in a good performance where we should have taken the three points.’

Speaking more about the chances that we did have in the game, and his own efforts, he went on to say.

‘In the first half we started really well but let them get back into the game. We wanted to start well in the second half too and we managed to sustain the pressure and had plenty of attacks, plus we restricted them to not many chances in our box. We’re pleased with the performance but it’s a shame we didn’t get a goal. I probably should have scored, I felt that after the header. I had a couple of chances and we created another couple of set piece chances too but we just couldn’t put it in the back of the net. Hopefully we can do that next week.’

Yannick Bolasie in his own interview, after hitting the bar, focused more on the positives we could take from the game and he said if we can replicate that performance against Liverpool, we should be taking all three points.

‘If we play like we did today, we’ll trouble a lot of teams, and I’m looking forward to next week. My favourite team! It’s going to be a tough game up there, but if we start the way we did, then I think we’ve got a chance.’
