Manager Neil Warnock has said there were plenty of things to be encouraged by in our two one defeat to Chelsea yesterday.

Speaking to Crystal Palace FC following the game, Warnock knows that had we been able to take the chances that we created in the first half especially, he knows the game could well have turned out differently – as it could’ve done had we not been reduced to ten men ourselves.

‘I was just about to put Adrian Mariappa on (Delaney), it was a silly thing for him to do. He pulls him back, then he is free but then he goes down – which you cannot blame him for. You cannot take anything away from our lot because we played some good stuff, we could have scored two or three in the first 40 minutes and that would have been a different game.’

Warnock goes on to say that for him he believes the Premier League title will come down to a battle better Manchester City and Chelsea, so it’s another reason why he’s still relatively happy with the showing we put in even though they dominated possession based on the stats.

‘It will be between Chelsea and Manchester City for the title, so I think that makes it better for me because I thought we could have got a result if things went our way.’

With Wilfried Zaha being on the bench, the manager also went on to say that he’s been working very closely with him for the last ten days, talking about expectations, what he wants from him and working on his decision making.

‘Wilf has been working very hard with me for the past 10 days. He knows what I think about him and what I am going to do with him. His discipline is a lot better, he knows when to do tricks and when not to do tricks – as we saw today. He has gone to a massive club early on in his career where you don’t get a lot of training. His attitude has been super for me.’
