Dougie Freedman has said of Jon Williams that it was always a case of ‘when’ rather than ‘if’ he would break into the first team.

Speaking to London24 Freedman admitted that he knew all about Williams from last season, and the hardest part for him as manager was just picking the right time to introduce him to the footballing world.

And since being given his first team shot, Williams certainly hasn’t let the manager down.

‘The kid was training with me last year and training all pre season with the first team and it’s just a matter of putting him in at the right time. He played against Brighton a few weeks ago and was man of the match, so his temperament is fine. He’s a fantastic young man with a great attitude and I did know he was going to play a part this season.’

There have been a number of highlights already this season, and Jon Williams has certainly been one of them.

Looks the complete package, and he can only get better in time with more experience and continued development.
