Crystal Palace manager Paul Hart has claimed that the Championship relegation battle could go down to the last game.

Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat to QPR has left Palace just one point above the drop zone, with only three games left.

The Eagles face a tricky trip to Derby County on Saturday before hosting the promoted West Bromwich Albion and then their final fixture is what could be a true six pointer at Sheffield Wednesday.

Hart, who managed Portsmouth to Premiership survival in 2009, admits that the battle to stay up could well boil down to the last game of the season.

‘The relegation situation is just the same as it was last week,’ he told the Croydon Guardian.

‘There will be strange results and we have to hold our nerve and just stick in there.

‘I think we have got to be strong as a group and hope we can get results that are favourable, that much is obvious.

‘It’s easy to say but we have to keep on going.

‘It is possible that maybe it goes to the last game but I am not a great prophet of doom or of joy,’ he added.
