Manager Neil Warnock has confirmed that Welsh international goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey is growing frustrated at Selhurst and he doesn’t feel that given his impressive international form that he’ll want to play second fiddle to Julian Speroni for much longer.
27 year old Hennessey has played only four times since joining us from Wolverhampton Wanderers back in last season’s January window, and the gaffer told the Standard.
‘He has been an absolute gem. He has given me a few looks but he has not knocked on my door once. He is a really good goalkeeper and we are fortunate to have him. At the moment he is playing in the cups and it can only go on for so long. Wayne will want to be a first team keeper as soon as possible.’
Warnock went on to say that with the upcoming December schedule he is looking at the games we have and ‘thinking’ about potential changes in all areas, not just the goalkeeper position, so if Hennessey does get a full game it’ll be in his hands to take that chance with his only league appearance this season coming in the two all draw with West Bromwich Albion where he was on the pitch for 35 odd minutes.
