Most of us would have been aware of the news that Mile Jedinak had suffered an injury on international duty with Australia at the Asia Cup, his ankle injury will see him miss the next game they play.

Australian manager Ange Postecoglou has issued a statement that confirms that the ankle injury that he sustained in the four-one win over Kuwait, a game that saw him convert yet another penalty, will see him miss the next group game on Tuesday.

It’s not thought that this injury, which hadn’t forced him off as he did finish that game, is too serious but the decision ‘not to risk him’ is being taken here with a decision to assess him before the third game – the Aussies are confident that they have the ‘strength in depth’ to manage without the captain.

He said: ‘We’ve decided to rule Mile out of the Oman game after he copped an ankle injury against Kuwait.

‘He’s not quite right to play and at this stage of the tournament we are better to give it a few days extra rest and we will reassess where he’s at for the game against Korea Republic.’

At least no risks are being taken with Mile, we would be more worried, not to mention annoyed, if they were!
